I like to visit the venues I’m going to be shooting at before the actual day. That way I get to know the layout and can scope out the best places particularly for the portraits.

So when Kerry showed me a lovely wooded area next to her reception venue I knew we could get some stunning shots. But then I saw something…something which immediately caught my eye and got the imagination going…if only I could persuade a bride in high heels and wedding dress to do it. I didn’t tell Kerry what I had in mind until the day because I didn’t want to scare her and when I showed her what I wanted, it took a little gentle coaxing but I was so glad when she agreed.

The result is my favourite shot from the day and from what I hear, Kerry was describing it to lots of people even before she had seen the final image and here it is…

You can’t tell just how high this was so here’s another which shows why Kerry was a little nervous…

… and here are a couple more of my favourites using the same location…

It’s wonderful for a photographer when you have a couple who are really up for creating something just a little different from the norm but I think you’ll agree that the results are well worth it!
